Documentation of Usage Intent for Stills from Cinematic Works Utilized on TAC
-
Purpose of Image Utilization
The still images procured from cinematic productions and prominently utilized as visual covers for Masterclasses on the TAC online store, as well as on various pages of the TAC website, are employed exclusively for the purpose of establishing a substantive connection to the pedagogical proficiencies of our instructors within an educational schema. Our instructors have materially contributed their expertise to the aforementioned cinematic productions; thus, it is imperative for prospective students to "see" the selective exemplary body of work that delineates their professional capabilities. Notwithstanding that the aforementioned images are exhibited within a commercial context, the primary intent is to furnish educational relevance rather than engender direct pecuniary gain from the imagery itself. This foundational premise will be elucidated further in the subsequent sections.

Non-Commercial Intent
It is of paramount importance to underscore that the specific images, actors, or scenes featured within these stills do not result in direct revenue generation for TAC. The organization’s core mission is fundamentally anchored toward the dissemination of knowledge and skills pertinent to color grading. Prospective learners do not predicate their purchasing decisions solely on the fame or renown of a cinematic work represented in stills; rather, their determination to enroll is wholly contingent upon a thorough and comprehensive evaluation of the curriculum presented in the class, its structural integrity and the degree to which it aligns with their individual needs and interests. Students are unlikely to invest in a class, regardless of the stature of the instructor, if the format and content is unappealing; to that end, we dedicate countless hours over weeks to curate comprehensive curriculums with these instructors, ensuring that we effectively address the current demands of the industry and align our offerings with the needs of students, thereby preparing them for success in a competitive landscape.
Besides, the artistry embodied in color grading transcends the specific identities of the individuals or scenarios portrayed in the stills. Our objective is to deploy compelling exemplars of color grading to elucidate its efficacy and significance, thereby conveying the artistic aspirations achieved through this craft.
Furthermore, because the interpretation of color is inherently subjective and requires both visual and emotional engagement, it is critical to present the works of educators in a manner that emphasizes their practical application rather than merely providing verbal descriptions; "show" supersedes "tell" in the context of educators' works to effectively facilitate student comprehension and appreciation of the pivotal role of color in visual storytelling.
It remains unclear how the exhibition of our educators' work might be construed as a commercial undertaking when the focus is unequivocally on showcasing "color excellence," rather than the "notoriety" of selected projects attributed to each educator, as it would be unfair not to do so, denying prospective learners the opportunity to make well-informed choices.

Instructor Credibility
TAC educators come with diverse levels of acclaim and recognition within the domain of color grading. It is our steadfast conviction that our fiduciary duty to our audience encompasses the presentation of the notable oeuvres of our instructors, irrespective of their prevailing notoriety or public recognition. We acknowledge that many individuals derive substantial inspiration from the masterful application of color in various cinematic works; hence, it is imperative to honor and acknowledge such esteemed artistic influences. A failure to showcase the works of instructors who have made substantial contributions to prestigious projects would constitute a "disservice" and "outright neglect" to the inspiration they proffer to our students.

Appeal to Stakeholders
A comprehensive and exemplary education in the field of color grading necessitates the visual articulation of critical elements intrinsic to the craft. The judicious and circumscribed use of selected still images enables us to effectively convey these conceptual paradigms, serving as tangible exemplars of the manner in which color grading substantially shapes visual narratives. It is incumbent upon stakeholders within the industry to comprehend that such usage is undertaken purely in good faith; as a dedicated training institution, we have diligently cultivated the TAC brand to provide premier educational opportunities for aspiring colorists. We earnestly implore that stakeholders within the film industry will appreciate the significance of utilizing a select few images to elucidate the pivotal role of color in narrative construction.
